Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (born 1965) is an Emirati military officer, businessman and son of the former President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sultan was born in Al Ain in 1965. He is the eldest son of Khalifa bin Zayed, former ruler of Abu Dhabi and former president of the United Arab Emirates. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political and administrative sciences, which he received from Emirates University. He also graduated from Zayed bin Sultan Military College in Al Ain in March 1988. Then he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and graduated in 1989. [1] He received a master’s degree in political science from the University of Salford in July 1989. Additionally, he holds two PhDs: one in international studies from the University of Limerick in November 1998 and the other from Nasser Military Academy in the Arab Republic of Egypt in April 1999. Her Highness Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan, Chair Person of the Society, is the wife of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, advisor to His Highness the President of the State. Her Highness has been the Chair Person of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Thalassemia Society since 2010. She has greatly contributed to raising awareness in the community and providing the best treatment for Thalassemia and hemoglobinopathies in United Arab Emirates. She was the best supporter of the patients and their families in supporting for their education, housing and treatment needs required by bone marrow transplantation. Her Highness is also a permanent member of the Board of Directors of the Thalassemia International Federation (TIF). She has also been entitled as the Supreme Vice President of the Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation, which contributed to the establishment of the Thalassemia Center in Fujairah and recently the Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Center for Thalassemia in Ras AlKhaimah. She is also one of the founders of the Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan International Award for Thalassemia.
